Accreditation

The Green River District Health Department (GRDHD) is proud to be an accredited public health agency through the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). GRDHD first achieved national accreditation on December 9, 2014, demonstrating our commitment to meeting the highest standards of public health practice. This initial accreditation was granted for a five-year period.

On August 24, 2021, GRDHD successfully received reaccreditation for a second five-year term. This achievement reflects our ongoing dedication to continuous quality improvement, accountability, and excellence in serving the communities of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, and Webster Counties. Accreditation confirms that GRDHD consistently provides essential public health services that protect and promote the health of all residents.

What Accreditation Means

Public health accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process that evaluates a health department’s ability to meet national standards for delivering high-quality public health services. Accreditation demonstrates that GRDHD:

  • Uses data and evidence-based practices to guide programs and decision-making
  • Continuously improves its performance to better serve the community
  • Builds strong partnerships to address local health needs
  • Upholds accountability and transparency in all aspects of public health work

Being accredited means that GRDHD is recognized for its leadership, effectiveness, and dedication to improving the health and well-being of every person in our district.
