Board of Health

The Green River District Board of Health serves as the governing body for the Green River District Health Department. The Board provides leadership, guidance, and oversight to ensure that public health programs and services meet the needs of the communities we serve across Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, and Webster Counties.

The Board of Health plays a key role in setting public health policy, approving budgets, reviewing health priorities, and supporting efforts to protect and improve the health and well-being of residents throughout the district.

Board Structure

Public health services within the Green River District are supported by both a District Board of Health and local County Boards of Health.

  • The District Board of Health includes representation from each of the seven counties in the district. This Board provides overall governance, coordination, and oversight for district-wide public health operations and policies.
  • Each county also maintains a Local Board of Health, which addresses local public health needs and provides input and recommendations to the District Board.

This structure ensures that both local and regional perspectives are considered when making decisions that impact community health across the district.

Membership

On behalf of the Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS), the Commissioner of the Kentucky Department for Public Health (KDPH) appoints members to the Local Boards of Health pursuant to KRS 212.020. The composition of the District Board of Health is defined in KRS 212.855.
