Naloxone is a life-saving medication that temporarily reverses opioid overdoses. It works by blocking the effects of opioids on the brain. Naloxone can quickly restore normal breathing to a person if their breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose.
Naloxone is commonly referred to by the brand name Narcan.

Green River District Health Department provides free Narcan at all seven county health centers. Green distribution boxes can also be found in various locations in each county.
