National Public Health Week 2026
The Green River District Health Department is proud to recognize National Public Health Week, observed April 6–12, 2026. This annual observance, led by the American Public Health Association, highlights the importance of public health and the work being done to keep communities safe and healthy.
The 2026 theme, “Ready. Set. Action!,” encourages individuals, organizations, and communities to take steps that improve health and well-being. It also reminds us that good health requires planning, partnership, and action.
Public health plays a role in everyday life. It helps ensure clean water, safe food, disease prevention, and emergency response. These efforts have helped people live longer and healthier lives across the United States.
“Public health is the foundation of a strong community,” said Clayton Horton, Public Health Director. “When we invest in prevention, education, and access to care, we are protecting not just individuals, but entire families and future generations. National Public Health Week is a reminder that every action we take today helps build a healthier, more resilient community tomorrow.”
The Green River District Health Department provides a wide range of services to support the health of local residents. These services include disease prevention, health education, immunizations, environmental health, and community partnerships that address local health needs. The department works with schools, businesses, and community organizations to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce health risks.
Residents are encouraged to take action during the week by making small, positive changes. This can include staying up to date on vaccines, choosing healthier foods, being physically active, and learning more about available health services.
