Agency Accreditation
The Green River District Health Department achieved national accreditation for five years by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) on December 9, 2014. Receipt of accreditation certifies that GRDHD has met or exceeds national standards for high quality public health services, leadership and accountability. Green River District Health Department is one of ten accredited public health agencies in the state of Kentucky.
The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), established in 2007, was created to serve as the national public health accrediting body, and is jointly funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The development of national public health accreditation has involved, and is supported by, public health leaders and practitioners from the national, Tribal, state, and local levels. 2018 Kentucky Environmental Health Association Service Award
GRDHD Environmental Staff received the Kentucky Environmental Health Association (KYEHA) Service Award in recognition of outstanding contributions in the preparation and execution of the community’s emergency disaster plan for water emergencies. The state-wide honor came in recognition to their response to the Daviess County-wide water outage that occurred in July 2018.
2018 Spirit of Kindness Certificate of Recognition
The Compassionate Care Adult Day Center received a “Spirit of Kindness” certificate from State Farm.
Pamela Acton, 2018 Home Care Paraprofessional Award (KHCA)
Pamela Action received the 2018 Home Care Paraprofessional award from the Kentucky Home Care Association for 27 years of excellent service in the Home Health field.
Angel Thompson, 2017 Support Services Staff Award (KPHA)
Angel Thompson, Director of Administrative Services received the Kentucky Public Health Association (KPHA) 2017 Support Services Staff Award for her outstanding contributions local and state health department efforts toward implementing E-Clinical Works, an electronic medical records system.
2015 Leveraging Collaboration Award
To GRDHD’s LCMV Investigations Group for “rapid and effective response by health officials to prevent the spread of Lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus (LCMV) among workers at pet food firms.” This award recognizes the collaborative partnership between the FDA’s Cincinnati and Detroit Districts and Center for Veterinary Medicine, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kentucky Department for Public Health, Green River District Health Department, Vanderburgh County Health Department, and the Indiana State Public Health Veterinarian.
2015 Business of the Quarter
Union County Health Department received first Morganfield Chamber of Commerce Business of the Quarter Award in October 2015 recognizing the hard work and staff dedication to providing services in Union County.
2015 PHAB Accredited Status Award (KPHA)

Judy Payne, Daviess County Nurse Supervisor – 2015 Paul Mason Memorial Award
Judy Payne, Daviess County Nurse Supervisor received the Kentucky Public Health Association’s 2015 Paul Mason Memorial Award for outstanding contributions toward improving Public Health in Kentucky for her work with the refugee population.
